So, you picked me up…

It is an uphill, relentless task as an author to ask a busy person to read their story. I’ve written a successful book or two before (never under this name, of course), but now I have decided upon something new. This is where you come in.

This time I decided to have some fun. An experiment. To go on an entirely different adventure.

Across the country I have strategically placed several copies of this novel. I have abandoned my words from service stations to train stations, a park bench and beyond. If you have happened upon a copy, then you have two choices. To read me, or to simply leave me behind. Of course, you might not get far. That’s ok. There are many books I struggle to read. But if you do continue on to the end then may I ask that you do me one favour? Leave me a message.

As for the book – well, pass it along for the next person (the fun is in watching them from a distance pick it up, just like you did). Take a picture of where you have left it before you walk away – another train station, perhaps? And then share with the rest of us.

As for the content? Well, the book is safe for all ages. It is an easy read: there are some dragons, a few lost pirates, some magical stones, a group of knights, a poisoned dagger or two and (of course), several lost copies of an ancient book. Heard it all before? Perhaps. But how a book engages with the reader will ultimately be its success or its failure. That is for you to decide.
